IWTO Green Book: Rewriting Wool’s Environmental Story
| The IWTO Green Book Project, led by Dr. Paul Swan is making significant progress in addressing misleading narratives about wool’s environmental impact.
This project takes a two-pronged approach: a technical compendium establishing wool’s eco-credentials and new research that challenges carbon accounting methods. Current lifecycle assessment tools were originally designed for factories, and so systematically misrepresent biological systems like wool production. When biological carbon cycling is accounted for, wool’s carbon footprint can be reduced by up to 75%. The Green Book is generously funded by the Italian wool trade through SMI with partner country co-investments. Watch Dr, Swan explain why this breakthrough changes everything for natural fibres. click this link
