Pilot workshop goes ahead

Two pilot Merino workshops designed to assist Merino stud breeders with technology and data management have been organised and places are filling. Running over two and a half days, the first pilot in NSW to be held in March will pave the way for a second in Western Australia in July this year.

pilot workshopMarion Gibbins, Australian Stud Merino Breeders’ CEO, has worked with the Sheep CRC to get these projects off the ground and said that with the increased use of electronic tags, scanners, scales, data collectors and automatic drafters there are opportunities for improving the efficiency in management of this equipment and the resulting data that is collected.

“The content of these pilot workshops has been looked at carefully to make sure that it meets the needs of the Merino breeder and also includes an on-farm follow up to make sure that the workshop information can be used back home,” Mrs Gibbins said.
